RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research started with an ethnographic study of Latin American families with a focus on Colombia. The aim of this approach to users was to find valuable aesthetic and usability insights for the product collection. We found usability key takeaways related to hygiene, people try to touch the toilet as less as possible when using; additionally, some anthropological discoveries that influence perception, users prefer smooth and friendly shapes on the toilet in order to feel safe in intimate space.
CHALLENGE: MonteCarlo Advanced started as a re-design from a previous toilet version. Although it had good selling numbers, it needed a design update. The project was a challenge for reaching the right appeal, that preserves the features the market likes but also improves aesthetic quality and product attributes.
