| DESIGN NAME: Venvstas Designer 7 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mechanical Pencil INSPIRATION: In most cases a design is born out of a client, a competition or inspiration, less often happens that a particular design appears out of a personal need when there's just a void on the market, when its not possible to find what is desired, even needed. The Designer series were made for its designer's needs, as to him there was no 2mm lead holder on the market that was good enough. Therefore the task was for the designer to make its own design tool. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The 2mm is the pencil of choice for many architects and designers as its not as thin as the 0.5 (a technical pencil) or a 4.5mm (a sketching one that brings not enough definition) so the 2.0mm for architects is the balance where the tool allows for an expressive drawing style while keeping a good amount of precision on it, needed to propper communicate an idea. 2mm mechanical pencils are also the right replacement for the classic wooden pencils, and in despite of that, its the rarest size to find. The Designer 7 is a very expressive, ergonomically designed tool that emphasizes high quality materials and manufacturing techniques. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Designed in Paris in 2014-15. Presented in the Paris design Week in 2017, sold via the Designboom design store, published in the Chinese Magazine "Design" Nov 2017 page 47. |
