NAME: Riva
PROFILE: Design, elegance and intelligence. Three ideals that guide Riva in the design of products, in the choice of materials and in the partnership with new and established talents. Providing the meeting of high design with functionality and a blend of different materials, Riva has become world-renowned for its silver and 18/10 stainless steel objects, surpassing the limit of simple tableware and decoration: the purest art in contemporary design.
Founded in 1988, Riva's history begins with the return of Rubens Simões, then 21, from his US study season. From California to Rio de Janeiro, Rubens brought in a silver silverware carrier, present for his mother. Riva was born in that object. Encouraged by his father, Rubens leaves behind the warmth of Rio for his first trip to Rio Grande do Sul, where he found what he needed to make the next 20 units of the cutlery, which were quickly sold.
