| DESIGN NAME: Mb 01 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mediacenter Computer INSPIRATION: The MB01 came from the desire to build a computer that combine great design, high quality materials and a fully made in France production. We wanted to make a computer which is clearly in the opposite way of the plastic gaming design that flood the market nowadays. Inspired by the 70s Hifi electronic devices, we made a product build to last, like they used too in the past. Break the plastic box was our moto for the MB01 conception and that's what drive us to use bended wood ". UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Fully made in France with love, the MB01 reflect the passion for the 70's hifi electronic devices : well designed products with high quality materials. With his small form factor, the MB01 is made to be used as a media-center for the living room or as a tiny desktop computer. It is aslo the first computer on the market with a Audio Dac integrated . The Hifi DAC allow users to connect the computer to there sound setup to enjoy there media collections in the best conditions. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The MB01 is designed to suit well in a living room. A high performance device to centralize and enjoy in the best conditions music, games and movies. A computer with an Hifi sound card to easily connect to a sound setup. But it's also an emotional object, made with sensual materials to be touch with passion. We want to produce an object that reflect his owner dedication to design, music and love, the merging of art and electronic. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2017 when I decided to exhibit a first prototype at the CES in January 2018. With the information collected during the show I worked during one year on transforming an idea and a prototype to a final product available on the market. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The external case of the MB01 is made of "bended wood", a process used in the skateboard industry to shape the board. The process consist of wood veneer glued together and pressed on a form to get the final shape. After making several prototypes by our-self we searched and find french factory able to product the pieces in small series. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 341 mm x 274 mm x 10.5 mm TAGS: computer, media-center, Hifi, audio, gaming RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We start our research by a listing of the current computers & media-centers available on the market. The results give us three mains specifications that our computer should have : a great design to fit in a living room, high performances and a small form factor (console size). We focused our visual research on the 70's audio amplifiers. The 70's industrial design reflecting well our vision : strong products, timeless design, high quality materials. CHALLENGE: As all self-entrepreneur one of the main challenge was the ambition to make a premium product with very limited founds. That situation forced us to make things in an DIY approach anytime it was possible, forcing you to But to make a product available on the market we needed factory to undlle the production. Not easy when your young with no industrial background. After researchs and meetings, we found two french factory that trusted us and produce our computer, starting with 10 units. NAME: Monkey Bidouille PROFILE: Monkey Bidouille is a french based company founded by Maxime Cazaillon and Antoine Vaba in 2019. The company is specialized in premium wooden case computers production. Monkey Bidouille started in February 2019 with the launched of their first computer : the MB01. The MB01 is a tiny desktop computer made to be used as a media-center for the living room or as desktop PC. All the computers are designed and produced in France in limited quantities. |
