DESIGN NAME: Cuyabeno Reservation
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging
INSPIRATION: The Cofan people, they are an indigenous people native to Sucumbios Province northeast Ecuador and to southern Colombia, between the Guamues River (a tributary of the Putumayo River) and the Aguarico River (a tributary of the Napo River). The most representative item of their clothing is the crown of very striking colors made from animal feathers, in addition, they use feathers in the nose and paint their faces red and black, with achiote and charcoal.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Create a packaging design in which the foreign visitor can take with him a piece of the Cuyabeno Reservation, more than just buying a souvenir, this design represents cultural aspects of Ecuador, in this case, an ethnic group known as "Cofan." The feathers and the color red are essential to identify the Cofan.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Foreigners can buy a souvenir from the ecological reserve but the package will visually and superficially represent an ethnic culture Cofan that they will know during their visit to Cuyabeno - Ecuador and that they will be able to remember forever.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2017 in Ecuador and finished the same year in Ecuador

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This design was made for it to be printed in craft paper and still be functional, this material has ecofriendly and resistant properties.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This design can be adapted in may sizes, from shopping bags to tiny boxes.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve is the second largest reserve of the 45 national parks and protected areas in Ecuador. It is located in the Putumayo Canton in the Sucumbios Province and in the Aguarico Canton in the Orellana Province. It was decreed on 26 July 1979 as part of the creation of the national protected areas system.
CHALLENGE: To create a memorable icon about Ecuador's biodiversity and culture for foreigners visitors.
