INSPIRATION: OnePlus 6T is born for geek enthusiasts and minimalists with help of powerful systems in today's world of overmuch options in smart phones. OnePlus 6T is an innovative and exquisite iteration guided by market research data. Its shape is inspired by the lines of the car body, and optimized and integrated with design elements , and thus presents a feeling of speed and vigor, as well as OnePlus features and state-out-the-art designs.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: OnePlus 6T houses Snapdragon 845, Hydrogen OS based on Android 9.0, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, working together for a fast and smooth experience. Featuring largest display ever and a resilient glass back, it is crafted with an optic AMOLED display for true immersion through an 86% screen-to-body ratio, beautifully slim cut-out along with unique carbon fibre of mirror black, midnight black and electro-optical violet. It boasts a spirit of craftsman to extreme design, quality and speed.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: OnePlus 6T is an innovative iteration based on preliminary market preference research, branding positioning and style planning, which pursuits a speed in whole design process. From sketches, 2D graphics to 3D models, visual consistence is highly required even though design languages are repeatedly deliberated at every stage. 100% presentation effect in rear-end engineering realization are guaranteed, adhering to original design concepts.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The development period of the project is eight months and the new launch was in New York in October 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: With latest photoreceptor in-display fingerprint sensor, just one touch on the screen authenticates prints. No opening makes the screen wider and tidier. Unique gradual changing color schemes with latest tech and iterative approaches finally come to a mass production.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Previous researches on style planning and positioning are conducted. All designers are involved in brand classification (according to different opposite keywords) and brand planning coordinate axis building, to find out product style positioning of next generation. The design process has also undergone many rounds of investigation and researches. Sketches and 2D graphics are judged and evaluated several times internally. Physical 3D models of every edition are made after appearance design style are confirmed. In addition, multiple rounds researches on different types of users, including appearance modeling, color preference and style preference, are implemented to extract the key words proposed by users in the researches, thus adjusting close to good design.
CHALLENGE: The challenge lies in iterative design needs in product realization, which needs designers to repeatedly solve difficulties with engineers to pursuit best design. In CMF (Color, Material and Finish) stage, new resources are developed to design different market color match and many technical issues arise in mass production. Products of each edition are mass produced only through the efforts of front-end and back-end engineering.
