| DESIGN NAME: Nine Origin 2730 Limited Edition PRIMARY FUNCTION: Eyewear INSPIRATION: nine origin 2730 is our tribute to the way hand made designer eyewear should always be made. No shortcuts, just pure Japanese know-how that has been brought down through generations in order to be able to make the perfect product. Our core focus on producing light weight eyewear has led us to combine new materials with traditional Japanese craftsmanship. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Combination optical frame, made from original Japanese made acetate, grade 2 medical Titanium and Beta Titanium. In order to obtain the flexibility and lightness of this piece, we had to create an even more delicate and complicated structure than normally used for optical frames. This structure was highly complicated in both planning and production. Extra flexible top bar, rivet hinges with 4 pins, acetate rim with excessive CNC cutting, drilling and front bending. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The frame can be fitted with different temple lengths or custom wide temples in order to secure a perfect fit. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: - |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The frame consists of temples made from 0.7 mm. sheet Beta Titanium to ensure flexibility and optimal comfort, Rubber sleeves made from natural rubber to ensure optimal fit without leaving any marks on the wearer, Hinges made from pure grade 2 medical Titanium in combination with stainless steel rivets, Laser cut front sheet made from flexible Beta Titanium, Hand made eye brows made from Japanese produced acetate created using natural cellulose obtained from wood as a raw material. This special kind of acetate is environmentally friendly and has excellent touch feeling (skin texture) peculiar to cellulose plastic. The beauty of the finished products and deep color patterns are created because they are materials with other flavours and features that can not be managed with other petroleum based plastics. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width: 13,9cm Height: 4,6cm Temple length: 14,5cm TAGS: eyewear, titanium, optical, acetate, handcrafted RESEARCH ABSTRACT: All frames from nine eyewear consists of high grade titanium and a couple of collections also include Japanese acetate. However, the construction for this frame is a much more complicated piece to create and relied on the know-how of the incredibly skilled Japanese craftsmen. CHALLENGE: nine eyewear creates light weight eyewear which becomes a challenge when you want to make a frame with a bold look. In order to make a bold acetate frame we had to develop a structure that combines layers of titanium and Japanese acetate. Instead of trying to hide the construction, we let it be a part of the overall design of the frame, showing every layer in a sophisticated and simplistic way.
