RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research Background
A lot of study on materials, family lifestyle and the demographic profile of the residents at the location of the show home were done in the design process. Understanding the culture is important as we needed the show home to appeal to them.
With the target clients belonging to the age group of 40-55 years old, a more neutral color scheme was opted for with less loud colors. Premium and natural materials were also incorporated as this is deemed their preference.
We also created many different material boards and samples during construction period, to ensure the detailing came out as intended and to get the right tone of color and texture
CHALLENGE: The hardest challenge of this project was to ensure the design and construction was done within the client's budget and the accessibility of the site location. As it was a new suburb the roads leading to it was still not completed when we started our interior design works, and the structure of the show home was done concurrently with our works. There was alot of challenging coordination with the engineers on electrical and lighting elements and structure elements. As all woodwork and joineries, and furnitures are customized design, each piece from the daybed right up to the bed and dining table and chairs were detailed and crafted by artisans and carpenters. A lot of coordination and paying attention to detailing was crucial to ensure achieving our intents.
