| DESIGN NAME: Chrysalis PRIMARY FUNCTION: Outdoor Kitchen INSPIRATION: Under the vast green carpets of meadows and forests lies a resource waiting to be transformed.There are those who recognize its beauty when the stone is still only quarried blocks & can foresee its beautiful finished future.This powerful scene of raw stone blocks standing in the field & the captivating idea that this rawness can be tamed are the inspiration for this design.Like the splitting of the chrysalis & the slow unfolding of the wings this outdoor kitchen is both raw & refined. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Chrysalis, an outdoor kitchen designed for and by Vaselli Marmi, is an 5 meters long composed of 5 separate pieces, each dedicated to a different function in the kitchen. The pieces include a sink, a grill, a fridge ,a cooking hob and a sideboard. The components are carved from solid stone blocks obtained from one single block of Becagli Travertine. This stone, with its strong character and the raw natural texture makes every piece unrepeatable, reminiscent of its raw state at the quarry. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The kitchen is carved from a single slab of Becagli Travertine from the Cipressi Quarry. The slab was cut into 6 smaller blocks to form the kitchen,The blocks have been lightened and then finished and cut by hand.
