| DESIGN NAME: Squar PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dimensional Tiles INSPIRATION: To find a new market/product niche in between ceramic tile, mosaic and 3D surface, offering a pure versatile artistic infinitive aesthetic solutions that never exist before . UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Surface Architecture expands its limits with Squar[e] Collection. Squar[e] modifies your wall and makes it free, available to changes of direction and shades with multiplicity of interpretations. Thus a new fact happens. A Ceramic tile collection making it possible to seamlessly go from a flat to a fully three-dimensional texture and from squared, regular shapes to a random pattern of shapes in a very reduced space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Squar Collection is to give designers a budget-friendly way to create artistic installations, which progress from flat and square to irregular relief using a single product. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Developed in Villa del conte, (Padova) Italy, starting in 2015 and after 3 years research, deep thinking development, many trials and lots of perfections, it has been displayed at Dubai Downtown Design show in November 2018 in large shapes sperimental display checking reaction before to proceed on more accurate dimension and production / patterns as here showed. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Squar is composed basically in ceramic tile size cm 5,0 x 5,8 x 0,6. This single rectangular shape is sectioned in 3 modular blended each other shapes: each same single shape is available in 3D version giving much more options with infinitive aesthetic customizable results thanks to a 9 patterns that could be blended each other or by Barbieri custom design service. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Made in different version as following: clay glazed 4" x 5" x3/8 size for exteriors/interiors ceramic 2" x 2" 1/4 x 1/3 for interiors , only. Engineered Marble 2" x 2" 1/4 x 1/3 : The Engineered Marble Carved Tiles are produced, through a laboratory tested process, by recycling marble dust from the production waste. The process has been certified by extensive testing carried out in US TCNA (Tile Council of North America ) laboratories.It can faithfully reproduce the Travertine and Natural Stone look and it is suitable for any installation/climate condition even where Natural Stone is not suggested. No maintenance. Not absorbent. Laboratory tested unalterable colour from UV radiant. TAGS: 3D wall tiles, wall tiles, 3D tiles, three-dimensional tiles, tile art wall, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It is difficult to explain here, but everything start from an evolution of hexagonal shape: the evolution of the develope through result of infinitive trials, 3d printed pieces, than handmade in soft stone, it was a very long hard working satisfied by its result. We were not happy using a single shape and we decide to use 3 different one that must be possible to exchange each other starting a squared shape basically, generating other shapes in reference of each single of the 3 shapes composed a single squared tile, that could be used all together or just a single or double one, creating always differents irregulars shapes/pattern. To facilitate the installation and wall designs, we created a 15 different panels, mesh mounted, that could be installed each other conseguently obtaining any shades and patterns. CHALLENGE: Create something in between tile collection and ART performance at friendly budget and at same time discover a simple new way to shading from flat to 3D surface in harmonius aesthetic result .
