| DESIGN NAME: MovePlace PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile Desktop INSPIRATION: The idea of a free office space has been spread recently. Organization of the space, where any employee can find a convenient place, proved its effectiveness. We wanted to improve this concept and added the ability to save a personal workspace. The employee does not just change his position, he is moving about with the familiar environment and the zone of his comfort. The product will be interesting for coworking space, modern companies and educational establishments. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Portable workplace can be easily moved and stored in a folded state. The table has a practical size in use and occupies a minimum space when not used at the same time. Computer and other personal things are stored in a special bag, which can be removed and taken away. The special shape of the table allows to use various forms of space organization for the working groups (round table, bench-system, etc.). Users can seat wherever they want and have their personal space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: All necessary things can be stored in a bag and taken out through a slot in the table. To fold the table, you need to bend it in your direction. Then fold two legs one by one. This is an easy operation, because the legs have wheels. After the table is folded, it can be moved anywhere or left in an upright position. If necessary, you can also disconnect the bag and take it with you. The table can be unfolded in the reverse order. It is important, that during the process of folding or unfolding the table there is no need to lift it from the floor. Therefore, you never feel its full weight. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was launched in September, 2013 in Moscow. The previous version was exhibited during “i Saloni World Wide Moscow” (winner of SaloneSatellite) in October, 2015, Moscow. This version was exhibited during Salone del Mobile (SaloneStaellite) in April 2016, Milan. Currently, the product is being prepared for mass production. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The legs of the table are made of metal tubes by the method of bending and welding. The worktop is made of colored polycarbonate by cutter. Transparent silicone wheels are used. The bag is made of leather or textiles. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: 1150 mm x 775 mm x 730 mm; Weight: 9 kg. TAGS: furniture, desk, table, folding table, mobile table, open space, free office, coworking, work space, workplace RESEARCH ABSTRACT: First of all, we wanted to ensure the ease of folding the table. It was necessary to observe the balance between the full size of the workplace, its functionality and mobility. As a result, the idea of a mechanism, which did not require a full rise of the table, was born. Only inclinations and turns were used. Also there was an idea of a vertical box for storing things and documents. Later, the box was transformed into a bag, which can be taken off and carried away. CHALLENGE: The design should be light, steady and ergonomic. The first prototype was made of plywood and differed in stylistics. Despite the nice appearance, we were not satisfied with the weight and lack of reliability rate, so we decided to improve the design and choose a minimalist construction of colored polycarbonate and metal. We made a lot of experiments with models of metal wire and cardboard, and finally we found an ideal functional and aesthetic form.
