| DESIGN NAME: Hotel Noah Ark in Chengdu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel INSPIRATION: The design interprets the charm of the ancient culture with a modern approach that transcends the appearance. It injects the oriental ritual into the space, blends the profound spirit and harmony of nature, and conveys the esteem and nobleness of tranquility. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A noble hermit in the city Inspired by the legends of Noah Ark in the Bible, the architect integrates the aesthetic appeal of the oriental tradition with unique insights to trace the source and connect the past with the present, creating a hidden ideal world which is peaceful and comfortable in the city for travelers from everywhere to escape from the turbulent urban reality. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The guests would experience diverse surprises walking inside and ultimately come back to a quiet and relaxing feeling. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lobby inherits the characteristics of traditional Chinese wooden structure, refining the simple and orderly shape to establish a magnificent and broad-minded atmosphere. Collecting inspiration from the mountains and rivers, the sandy background wall outlines the impressionistic contours with warm light, soft and flexible. The abstract art installation is eye-catching as the interpretation of oriental artistic conception as Meeting the mountain is to look at the plateau, when encountering the water, it is to admire the distance. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 28000 square meters TAGS: peaceful, Oriental, nobleness, nature, wood, elegant RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The rooms attach great importance to the closeness between people and nature. The layout and decoration keep elegant and with wood furniture to convey the delicate and tenacious thoughtfulness of the hotel. The gentle and steady tone helps to ease the impetuous mind in the journey. CHALLENGE: The essence of Chinese culture is not in symbolic stacking, but in expression of image, which is the core appeal of modern oriental aesthetics. The overall atmosphere is luxury and immersive with ingenious details. The time-honored bronze metal is meticulously crafted, while the ancient spirit is released with the contemporary vitality during the extraction of material and the transformation of form.
