| DESIGN NAME: Municipal Toy Library of Dólar, Granada PRIMARY FUNCTION: Nursery INSPIRATION: We project the municipal playroom of Dólar (Granada, Spain) with a low budget (450 €/m2), subsidized with funds of agrarian employment for unemployed people. The plot is located in the south perimeter of this town of Guadix's region, with a form of arch that is opened to the rural landscape in the skirt of Sierra Nevada and that it´s leaned in one property line. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The building is distributed in only one plant, diaphanous and functional, organizing the service in the eastern part and the space of playroom opened towards the landscape in the western part. Following the organic tracing, the main form is displayed to create an exterior space linked with the central core of games. The pavement of red and white linoleum establishes the zoning of the program. To provide with a major spatial quality, according to his function, the flat cover has been fragment following a compositive scheme, introducing natural light and ventilation to the principal core. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For his construction, it has been materialized with a low budget: mixed structure of steel and concrete, closings with termoarcilla and coatings with mortar of lime, plaster and linoleum. The facilities are basic, concealing the exterior units above the low roof. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Built area: 123,88 m2. NAME: Carlos Quevedo Rojas (Carquero Arquitectura) PROFILE: Carlos Quevedo Rojas (Cádiz, 1980) graduated from the E.T.S. Arquitectura of Seville, Master´s Degree in Architecture and Historical Heritage (Seville), Specialization in Monuments Restoration from University "La Sapienza" Rome, Master´s Degree "Art History: Investigation and Guardianship of the Heritage" from University of Granada and International Doctor PhD in Architecture (Universities of Seville and IUAV of Venice). He is professor and head teacher at the School of Art and Design of Cádiz, has spoken at international conferences and seminars and published in indexed specialized journals. His research works has been awarded like the Urban Planing National Prize “Ricardo Santos Díez” or “Pablo de Olavide” Essay Award. He has realized several doctoral stays and has won some fellowships. He collaborates with investigation projects with the Universidad de Sevilla and Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería de Perú. He has been professor invitor at Universidad de Sevilla, Universitá IUAV di Venezia and Oxford Brookes School of Architecture. His works and projects try to delve the conceptual principles of the architecture and the intervention in the heritage and they have been published in international magazines, exposed in several international exhibitions and received several awards and distinctions: International Award Architizer A+ (USA, winner), International American Architecture Prize (USA, golden medal), Architecture Award “Torres Clavé” (Spain, winner), European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award (EU, nominee), A´Design Award (International, golden winner), International Landscape Award “Rosa Barba” and Bienal (Spain, selected), International Prize of Architecture and Nature “Simonetta Bastelli” (Italy, selected), Leonardo Minsk Awards for young architects (Belarus, 2nd prize), Prize Arquia/Próxima of Young Architects (Spain, catalogued) , and chosen for the young architects program FACtual of the Fundación Arquitectura Contemporánea (Spain). His works has been exposed in several international exhibitions. |
