| DESIGN NAME: Mia Lamp PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table lamp INSPIRATION: Inspired by elegant feminine shapes, Mia with its transparent frame, places at the center the bright, sinuous, sweet and sensual soul of the woman. With smooth and simple lines and curves, Mia is a perfect balance between lightness and strength. The Plexiglas can be penetrated by the light in all its essence coming, through the transparency of the legs, up to the supporting feet that, by lighting up, create a special lighting effect of suspension. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The lampshade, a suit composed of color and translucency, made entirely by hand with the chromatic sequence of the Plexiglas rings entrusted to the work of its designer, represents its lively and sunny character, but above all makes it unique. The light crosses and enhances every single chromatic identity of the lamp, making the atmosphere warm, soft and full of elements in harmony with all environments. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: MIA is a table lamp, therefore useful for a desk, a bedside table or inserted in a living area. It creates atmosphere and at the same time can also be used for a reading or study corner. The peculiarity is the possibility of replacing the lampshade to change the atmosphere. The lampshade is made with different colors and finishes. Replacing the lampshade is very simple and intuitive, just pull the cylinder on the support upwards. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Bari in March 2018 and ended in August 2018 also in Bari. It was presented on the occasion of the first edition of Hand Made - International exhibition of self-produced design, within the 82nd edition of the Fiera del Levante Bari. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: MIA is made entirely of cast plexiglas (Pmma) purchased in sheets of different thickness and color and subsequently cut by Co2 and Cnc laser. The various components (bulb support and ring lampshade) are assembled by hand. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The base of the three-legged support, is inscribed in a circle 194 mm diameter and 285 mm high, the lampshade with an external diameter of 140 mm and a height of 180 mm, is positioned (on the steps made specifically to accommodate the lampshade on the legs of the support) at a height of 152 mm. The total height of the lamp is 332 mm. TAGS: lamp, emotion, color, plexiglas, light, mia, design, acrylic, ring RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research: study and laboratory tests. Objectives of the research: the material and its processing, the light and its refraction. Data and tools used: books, computer research, comparisons with artisans and twenty years of experience in the processing and design of Plexiglas. Experiments: aimed at the diffusion of light through the colored plex, the transparent one and the shape balance. The final result, in tune with the initial idea, satisfied the designer and the client. CHALLENGE: His designer Tommaso Petrillo wanted to design and make a table lamp that would thrill with colors. The challenge was not to make a classic lamp with the support that held a colored lampshade, but to make the support an integral part of the lighting, in fact the legs (cut with numerical control) have a matte finish on the thickness that lights up when Mia lights up. This allows you to also decorate the legs making the decoration bright.
