PRIMARY FUNCTION: Womenswear Collection
INSPIRATION: The collection inspired by the two sides of war, which suggest me importance of finding a balance in today’s global & ethnic identity, handcrafts & mass production. Starting from 'The internment of Japanese American’ event, the unfit ration childrenswear during internment inspires me an oversized silhouettes, and labels at garment brings me a patch work idea. Looking at Constructivism which born in wartime led to identifying garment details, fabric and texture ideas.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The collection unfolds a dual effect from War to Fashion: War stimulates fashion globalization and revives popularity in handcraft, but restrains the ethnic fashion and material wasting in fast consumption.The Collection developes a youthful, illusory, geometrical aesthetic by referencing the ethnic elements in modern garments, and exploring art movements such as Constructivism.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The collection developed a youthful, illusory, geometrical aesthetic by referencing the western and Japanese wartime fashion, as well as the constructivism effect to fashion and artworks. Using Digital Printing, Hand Dying, and 3D innovative Pattern-making techniques, the collection mainly includes western styles fashion with ethnic elements.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2015 in London and finished in June 2015, and it was exhibited in London in June 2017, and was exhibited in New York in April 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Digital Printing, Rong designed the checked pattern on computer for some dress, and printed in silk satin. Then Rong used Draping and Pattern making techniques to transform the 2D fabric into 3D shapes on the body.
Hand Dye technique has been used in many outfits in this collection. It construct a Gradient Color on Wool and Cotton Fabric.
