DESIGN NAME: Welcome Jewelry
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewelry
INSPIRATION: Witnessing the drama of Syrian refugees fleeing their homeland pushed us to raise awareness and funds to help refugees around the world.
We got inspired by the razor wire installed along the borders. We decided to change this cruel element into a symbol of support that anyone could wear.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Jewelry Collection made from the razor wire installed on border walls, polished and plated in 24 Karat Gold. All proceeds are donated to UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) to help refugees.
The "Welcome" Collection invites everyone to change the meaning of razor wire, a piece of border that has been transformed into a symbol of respect and tolerance.
We hope to change the meaning of razor wire into a symbol of support for people displaced by wars and natural disasters around the world.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: "Welcome" is a jewelry collection and it functions as any other jewelry piece.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The initiative was officially presented at Art New York 2017 and it is available worldwide.
