| DESIGN NAME: Loft of Designer PRIMARY FUNCTION: Loft INSPIRATION: The Designer´s Loft was created to make a homage to Zanini de Zanine, famous brazilian designer. The goal was to conceive a space where this dweller could live, work, cook and receive his friends. The project relied on natural materials and brazilian furniture and tried to provide maximum integration among the parts of the Loft. It was developed having in mind that the simplicity can be something charming. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The entire structure is inspired by the Bauhaus school, which favors simplicity. There is no hiding of the infrastructure: beams, pillars and installations are all apparent. The predominant colors are gray, silver, black, white and also earthy colors. The majority of the objects and also the mockups of projects that are in the space belonged to Zaninis father, the late José Zanine Caldas. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A flexible space where the homeowner finds the perfect place to relax, work, cook. On the other hand was also thought to be a space where one can hang out with his friends, read a book, share a nice wine or just listen to good music PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started on May, 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Construction began on October 10th, 2014 and ended in November 10th, 2014. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To ensure authenticity all materials that were used were certified green products and 100% recyclable. Also used were demolition wood and natural leather. Corian for the kitchen counter and laminated floor. Besides that, all personal items have been carefully chosen SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: _ TAGS: Casa Cor, Interior design , Loft design, contemporary, vintage furniture, designer, Loft, interior, sensory, Architecture. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The loft was one of the biggest attractions of 24th edition Casa Cor Rio de Janeiro. It is Brazil´s biggest and most important architecture event. This particular edition was held in Casa Shopping, largest decoration specific mall in the country. CHALLENGE: Create a eco-friendly space, maximize the utilization of all space available in the best form possible. NAME: EDC 5 ARQUITETOS ASSOCIADOS PROFILE: Sustainable and modern architecture - The architecture of happiness is the new concept of living well. She has always believed in art. Even as a Architecture of Happiness Emmilia Cardoso has her own style. She always prioritizes comfort and believes in cooperation and sustainability. Her projects focus on the quality of life. To her, the transformation of a space takes place with balance, creating a connection to nature. All spaces must re ect their resident’s personality. My suggestion is always to be surrounded by lots of plants, handmade objects, and artisanal furniture. I advise my clients to keep only useful objects at home, to use 100% of the entire space, and to avoid empty spaces, says Emmilia. With a taste for neutral colors –beiges, whites, and greys– she prefers to use vibrant colors as accents in decorative objects and details. She mixes several materials together in her projects and uses simplicity blended with sophistication in a balanced way. In order to soften the shades of gran concrete, she always allows the nature greens to enter the home through the windows. Emmilia also likes to use wood details in her in- terior designs, as they lend a sense of warmth. “Our homes are sacred places and we shouldn’t rely only on furniture, colors, and objects, but rather on our behavior, energy, respect, and love for one another,” acknowledges Emmilia. The architect’s advice regarding indispensable ma- terial objects is: Always put comfort and sus- tainability in first. |
