DESIGN NAME: Kibardin Clock
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Digital LED Clock
INSPIRATION: The material world becomes more complex on the inside and streamlined on the outside. Objects lose their massive material body and turn into contours, imaginatively reminiscent of their purpose. Modern technologies allow placing electronics inside the product housing in such a way as needed to turn it into a logically and conceptually sound frame like symbol.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A Kibardin clock kept on a desk or wall is more than a timepiece. It is a true expression of your personal taste, and also a professional tool. We therefore improve our clocks not only to reflect a wide range of styles and preferences. We also work on functionality and quality because we want you to love their reliability as much as you love their design.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The digital wall or desk white LED clock with white framed digits by Vadim Kibardin is a modern 3D interpretation of the traditional digital clock. Nothing else, simply time. The Kibardin clock is a clock with an alarm and 24 or 12 hour time display modes. During dark hours the light-sensitive sensor and new intelligent light controller change the brightness of the digits to a less intense white.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Kibardin clock started off in 2009 as an ambitious-concept clock using individual OLED components, and a production-ready model in a white case was released to the public in 2011. The final Kibardin clock has drawn a lot of attention from fellow designers and the general public. All clocks in the same design on the market are fakes or replicas of Kibardin original clock. Now we present the new 2018 clock version – an improved clock with an intelligent light controller and the possibility to select between 12 and 24 hour modes. We offer the choice of 4 electric plug types USA, UK, Europe, and Korea, and 5m USB cord lengths, plus 2 years warranty.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The clock is encased in a matte black and white housing from ABS plastic with matte lightgrey and darkgrey light dispersing screens. The box contains the clock, a detachable 5 meter power cord with USB connector for mains connection on one side and a DC jack for clock connection on the other, a universal power adapter supporting all mains types, and a special plug matching the power outlets in the region of intended usage.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We deliver award-winning solutions that meet marketing objectives, recognizing that successful product experiences come from a comprehensive understanding of users needs, wants and desires. We focus on probing current trends to determine which technologies will define the highest quality of life, and it helps our company deliver on ours brand promises by designing beautiful forms with meaningful function. Our design process consists of fiscovery phase, concept design phase, 3d modeling phase, detail and prototyping phase.
CHALLENGE: The main challange was work with light sensitivity, there is the lumen method, it is a simplified method to calculate the light level in a room. The method is a series of calculations to establish a uniform luminaire layout in a space and calculations of light level from automatically switching on extra lighting in dark hours. We used this method to determine the moment the brightness of the digits changes to a less intense white.
