DESIGN NAME: LOUVA DEUS
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chaise longue
INSPIRATION: Nature forms such as the Praying Mantis insect was the main inspiration. Organic lines bring a new form for a chaise long due to its hammock lines, a typical brazilian native people’s way of resting. Minimal construction and design was the main conceptual construction adopted.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Inspired by the homonym insect, the Praying Mantis chaise longue ( louva Deus in portuguese) brings an organic design using classic industrial materials such as steinless steel and nautic ribbens. The furniture was made for outdoor and its design goes beautifully indoor also. The separeted ottoman gives an extra confortable adjustment. Laying back comfortably on a Louva Deus is a result of human anatomy studies aplied on this furniture design.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The light structure and separeted ottoman give precise adjustment to laying back comfortly. The hammock shape is anatomically and naturally made for any type of body.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in august 2017 and finished in february 2018 and was exibited in Paralela fair in São Paulo Brazil

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The product was designed and made to be used as indoor and outdoor furniture. Just two materials were used during the production. Handcurved steinless steel tubes and and a handmade braided hammock with nautical ribbons were carefully used.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Animal morfology was the main research and the objective was to transport organic lines into an industrial object keeping its function and comfort the maximum as possible. Nature observation is the main and daily source of data used by me for designing.
CHALLENGE: Translate the Brazilian local lifestyle into an international and contemporary global design.
