| DESIGN NAME: Motoziel PRIMARY FUNCTION: Retail & Restaurant INSPIRATION: With the advent of online retail, physical stores are slowly becoming obsolete hence a new thought in experience was thought of in this creation where a store functions in a cafe or vice versa creating a cross function space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Motoziel, is a new format retail store that sells motorcycle accessories, motorcycle gear along with freshly brewed beer and delicious food, Motoziel, is a new experiment in retail which along with merchandise has a cross function of a cafe bringing a new experience to the guest. a cafe provides space to sit and relax and thereby gets more guests to the store who otherwise may not have visited a specialty retail store to being with. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The entry of the store is from the ground floor of the building which provides a basic idea of the store along with a cordoned off area for bike wash and a back store. a travel planning desk is planed in the next area. a long staircase leads to the first floor that houses the entire store and the restaurant. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: located in Gurgaon, India was started in april 2017 and completed in October 2017 FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The material pallet used in the store is wood for the ceiling rafters, brick tiles for wall cladding, tiles for the floor and wooden furniture. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Spread in area of 1100 sq.mt. of space in two levels. with entry from the ground floor TAGS: motorcycle, gear, gurgaon, cafe, bar, beer, craft beer RESEARCH ABSTRACT: while doing our research on such retail formats we could not find any precedence for such a store hence the store was designed as meandering pathway of restaurant seating with merchandise display CHALLENGE: With no precedence for such a cross function store the challenge lied in creating space such that both the functions of the restaurant and retail store go hand in hand.
