RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Whirl lift square lamp is the square lamp that adapts to the new urbanism, which can maximize the use of the public square space, as well as can effectively manage and reduce the conflict in public environment.
CHALLENGE: In China, middle-aged and aged people are sharing the square with young people, and there is a generation gap between them. The middle-aged and the aged people like to dance, usually accompanied by high decibels and strong rhythms music, while young people like aerobic exercise. For example, playing badminton, skateboarding and so on. Both sides produces conflict over the ownership of the space. This creates contradictions. On the other hand, in China, many public squares are built close to residential buildings, this is therefore the noise generated by the square often interferes with the rest of the nearby residents.
