| DESIGN NAME: Mirror Chair PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair with magnifying glass and planter INSPIRATION: The inspiration of this design comes from the beauty of the nature and the tiny details of plants. The human being always easily ignores the tiny details from the environment, such as the texture of Sansevieria trifasciata Prain, the leaf vein of Monstera deliciosa Liebm and the raised grain of Hylocereus undatus. You can imagine that what an expectant thing it is, if there is one kind of chair which can make people sit quietly to enjoy the flourishing of the green leaf, and bathe in the sun meanwhile feel the charm of the plant. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The backrest of the two "Mirror chairs", respectively, installed mirrors with magnifying function. People can sit to observe the details of the plants in the micro-distant and enlarge the texture beauty of every leaf by such mirror. Each chair has its own characteristics, the left chair with the round mirror suits for one person to sit. You can not only rely on the mirrors, but also can adjust the height according to different height plants. You can always to adjust the mirrors to the most comfortable viewing angle. The chair on the right equips a square mirror. It is suitable for two or more people to sit together. The square mirror not only amplifies the details beauty of the plants, but also presents a kind of oil painting beauty. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This work starts from deep research on the plants, then we discussed and did lots of brain storm, we keep thinking how to realize and show well of the beauty of plants. it is going to be a sustainable design project, meanwhile it's a very meaningful as it is organic and better for our urban life. It promotes the harmonious coexistence of nature and human. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The materials are metal and glass. We used metal bending technique for each chair' s leg. Surface treatment for lacquer.The magnifying glass is dissolved in acrylic organic glass. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: the round chair ：L:440mm, W:300mm, H:950mm（seat height ：450mm); the square chair：L:1210mm, W:480mm, H:1000mm（seat height：450mm） TAGS: Chair, plants, textures, exploration, and display RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We Investigated the relationship between plants and people's daily life, and also have been to the flower market to investigate the variety and texture of plants and the types of hot selling plants on the market. Analysis and comparison of the characteristics of each plant. Meanwhile analysis and selection of suitable metal and glass. CHALLENGE: In the early stage, it is uncertain how to show the unique sense of beauty of plants. Then we get directions from children to observe things and archaeologists to observe artifacts using the magnifying glass. The later challenges lie in the process and material selection, as well as on the metal surface treatment.
