DESIGN NAME: Tama
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant
INSPIRATION: Copper in Bengali language of India is called tama. Copper stands for purity and authenticity hence has value attached to it. The inspiration for the design is attributed to the properties of copper.
A purist’s obsession, it has been chastising impurities by channelizing positive energies of the galaxy through its veins since the dawn time. Best manifest in the purest of human endeavours like art, dance, design, music or cuisine, the magic and mystique of copper
returns in a bold new avatar for a brave new age.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Historically copper, called Tama in Bengali language, has been used for most human monetary transactions which signifies value attached to the metal thus connecting people and civilization’s. Tama recreates that connection. Tama being the best conductor of energy, conducts it’s pure energy of dance, music, food, wine and craft beer to the experiential feel of its spaces into the guest. A perfectionist delight, crafted with utmost perfection is the purist vision called tama.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: You are drawn into the phenomenon almost by instinct, with the ethereal energy hitting you the moment you step into the magical foyer. Crystallized dancing figurines on a copper background lure your attention, drawing you to the inner sanctorum. Here, ensconced by saxophones and trumpets in forms of lights and claddings, artistes bring to life stirring masterpieces with their virtuoso performances.
Voluminous demarcations lead you now to the raised dining area, private dining area and balcony, each sculpted to harmonize with the underlying vibe of the place. It’s a vibe of purity, passion and panache that flows into the rest rooms dressed in all back, where it is absorbed and radiated back through mirrors.
The spirit finally wends its way into an exclusive microbrewery and a state of the art world kitchen – the result of years of experimentation and research by some of the finest culinary minds of the land.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was started in May 2017, completed Feb 2018, Tama is located in sector 16 market of Faridabad, in Haryana, India

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Sculptures and coins are made in fibre glass ad then painted in antique copper color, flooring uses Italian marble, titanium travertine, and silver potrero in toilets, along with mirrors that reflect and enlarge the entire space. flooring also uses wooden battens in the main hall area and private dining rooms. ceiling uses mirrors and veneer with acoustic foam. All the walls are painted in oikos texture paints from Italy.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project is spread in area on 700 Sq.mt in a single level with 220 covers.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research was put together for identifying old coins and sculptures that were then designed and placed in the space, since most of the ceiling area is done in coins and mirrors.
CHALLENGE: Being a 700 sq.mt. area on a single plate the entire space had to be broken down into smaller spaces so as to create specific areas for privacy and also specific areas for different tastes of guests and to further create a curiosity to see and feel the entire space.
