DESIGN NAME: Hundertwasser 100 H20
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sideboard
INSPIRATION: This project was inspired by the famous architect Hundertwasser, the opponent of "a straight line". The sideboard is built without standardization, characterized by imaginative vitality and uniqueness. The organic forms of this sideboard, a balance of art with everyday living, and a strong individualism, rejecting straight lines, is an authentic furniture with artistic approach, born of a passion for surreal design and fine craftsmanship.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The “100 H20” Sideboard has plenty of details that reveal the craftsmanship involved in its production. The visible, expertly crafted details are a pleasure to behold, day after day. The drawers are asymmetric in a range of metal varieties, copper, brass and bronze, featured with different shaped handles. Spider style legs add surreal feeling. The drawers slide effortlessly and close softly. With aim of delivering exceptional modern and contemporary furniture design, this sideboard is a very unique product.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A symbiosis of asymmetric forms and techniques of finishing different non-ferrous metals challenged us to create a unique, extravagant and in the same time elegant masterpiece.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in November 2017 and finished in February 2018 in Riga, Latvia, and it will be exhibited at Maison&Objet in Paris in September 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Materials used are solid wood, ash veneer and a combination of various non-ferrous metals, such as brass, bronze and copper. All these metals are derivatives from the copper. Copper is a unique metal, to which you can add zinc and obtain brass. Likewise is with bronze (rose gold), a combination with tin. Finish of the body is stained and varnished and metals are satin brushed.

CHALLENGE: When the world of design is criminally sterile and straight, it is a challenge to create something abstract, kitschy and individual.
