| DESIGN NAME: Kulp PRIMARY FUNCTION: Door Lever INSPIRATION: Contemporary spaces rely on the simplicity of color and shape to provide their aesthetic appeal, rather than elaborate design. Contemporary style is focused on clean lines and basic shapes, all made popular throughout the design movements of the late 20th century. Accessories such as door levers are expected to be suitable for the general theme of the house, office etc. In this design, a stylish, customizable and self-showing design has been aimed which will meet more expectations. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is a door lever design that aims to be both elegant and modern. It offers a wide range of customization possibilities. With the changeable parts the most suitable combination can be designed. With the help of push button part, it can be both lockable and unlockable. Metallic painted parts, matte paint parts or rubber parts can be easily assembled, only a screwdriver needed. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The end user or a designer can choose each parts in like he prefers, from the material and color palette. Then assemble them together with simple details. All you need is a screwdriver. It can be both lockable and unlockable. It depends where you want to use it. Privacy locking is ideal for bedrooms and bathrooms. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Ankara in February 2017 and was completed in January 2018 in Ankara. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Industrial applications are important to the environment. Aluminum production methods do not harm the environment. Aluminum will never be a waste and will not harm the environment. 30P of the aluminum used is obtained from the recycling of scrap. This ratio reaches 70P in the sectors of electricity, construction and motor vehicles. The structure and all parts are made of die cast aluminum. It's available in any other matt or glossy color or with rubber materials can be used for a modern feel. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Length 130mm x Width 50mm x Depth 65 mm Door Handing, Right, Reversible, Left Weight, approximately 650 gr. TAGS: Handle, lever, door, elegant, modern, stylish, customizable, contemporary RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Designers have the opportunity to infuse sustainability concepts into our lives through the products they design. The surveys have been examined which has discussed the roles and responsibilities that the product and process design function are prepared to take on in the environmental sustainability and social responsibility efforts of organizations. And also, metal shaping and moulding methods, connection details and CNC applications, have been examined. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to design a contemporary product that would gather beauty of geometry and simplicity, while maintaining a simple, minimal and recognizable design which also respects the environment. NAME: Bülent Ünal PROFILE: Bülent Ünal is a graduate of Middle East Technical University, where he received a BA in Industrial Design in between 1989-1993. After his military service, he launched his career in Ankara as a co-founder, general manager and art director of a company specialized in the field of design and advertising in between 1996-2011. In 2011, his expertise on 3D architectural visualization allowed him to include projects in one of the international company ECOU located in Libya for 5 months. In 2013, he received his master degree in the department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Atılım University. After his graduation, he started to the Architecture PhD program of the same University and he has been studied on architectural design. He is an instructor in the Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Fine Arts Design and Architecture at Atılım University since 2013. He is married and a father of one. |
