PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pencil
INSPIRATION: In daily life, it is a waste if discarding those shortened pencils with a certain limited length inconvenient for using. Adults and children would love to purchase if turning discarded pencils into new product with great fun. This can not only solve pencil waste problem but can also provide new toy product.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Shortened pencils are usually discarded, which causes waste. This gyro can be covered on pencils that shorten after usage to become a kind of toy gyro. It can draw out different traces while rotating to improve product interestingness. The diversity of its shape can make the product more expressive and satisfy different users' demands.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Cover the gyro onto the shortened pencil and rotate the penciln, then draw out unique curve lines. Colored pencils can create richer effects.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in summer 2017 in Wenzhou, and finished in winter 2017 in Wenzhou.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Insert shortened pencil into gyro, with the pencil body as the axes of gyro and pencil point as the support point of gyro, silicon gel as the material.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The improvement of people's living standard usually results in more wastage. For example, pencils that are shortened after using would be discarded by people. This problem will be improved if turning the discarded pencil into a toy favored by both adults and children. Gyro is the perfect thing to satisfy this requirement.
CHALLENGE: How to improve the duration and stability of gyro rotation is quite difficult. We try to make the product up to the expected effect through repeated model experiments, data analysis and structural optimization.
