| DESIGN NAME: Motoziel PRIMARY FUNCTION: Retail store and cafe INSPIRATION: The motoziel store was to be a store that had to be different than any other in the marketplace. This store is the first to be designed as a restaurant that also features bike accessorizes for sale and vice a versa. With the advent of online retail, their now lies a challenge to make a physical store more interesting and offer something compelling that you may not find online, fresh beer and freshly cooked food. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Motoziel, is forthwith a motorcycle accessorizes retail store that also provides bike servicing, washing, bike renting, cafe and bar facilities. The entire idea was to make a new offering in the retail space. The overcrowded online format poses a direct threat to the existence of a physical store, to counter this challenge we introduced a restaurant and a barber shop in the store. where a single store itself works as a multi-function store with various options that cannot be found in the online format. The restaurant creates this space in to a multifunction area, which leads to people browsing through the merchandise and maybe create an impulse buy. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The entry of the store is from the ground floor of the building which provides a basic idea of the store along with a cordoned off area for bike wash and a back store. A travel planning desk is planned in the next area. Along staircase leads to the first floor that houses the entire store and the restaurant. The restaurant area and the retail area are planned separately whereas the entry and the exit to the restaurant is from the main retail store area. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is located in Gurgaon, India and was started in april 2017 and completed in October 2017. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The material pallet used in the store is wood for the ceiling rafters, brick tiles for wall cladding, tiles for the floor and wooden furniture. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project is spread on a total area of 1100 sq.mt. on two levels is located in Gurgaon, India. TAGS: motorcycle, gear, gurgaon, cafe, bar, beer, craft beer RESEARCH ABSTRACT: While doing our research on such retail formats, we could not find any precedence for such a store hence the store was designed as meandering pathway of restaurant seating with merchandise display. CHALLENGE: With no precedence for such a cross function store the challenge lied in creating space such that both the functions of the restaurant and retail store go hand in hand.
