DESIGN NAME: Atmobot AA
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile Air Purifying Robot
INSPIRATION: An ordinary air purifier can only purifier the surrounding air of a certain domain, and may only be able to expand the purification domain when manually moved. This means that more time is required to purify the entire household environment. We have therefore designed this model of smart and mobile air purification robot.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Atmobot AA is an intelligent air purifying robot that achieves mobile purification of the entire house. Equipped with Smart Navi technology, it may be activated at one touch. The robot rapidly and accurately creates a map of the entire home, automatically generates a mobile purification point, and purifies as it moves, purifying a home with multiple rooms. Thanks to its twin-turbo double-fan design, the Atmobot AA's CADR value could reach a peak of 600 square metres per hour. The Atmobot AA's mainframe interface can automatically sense changes in indoor lighting to regulate the brightness.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Connecting the Atmobot AA to the charging dock, users may select in situ purification or mobile purification by way of the control interface at the top of the robot after turning on the machine. In the course of mobile purification, the robot generates a map. Users may customize the mobile purification path via their mobile phones to purify multiples rooms. They may also check the status of purification, edit the purification points and schedule purification via their mobile phones. When the battery is low, the robot returns to its charging dock for charging. The display panel at the top of the robot displays the indoor air quality value. The color of the lighting on the robot also displays the status of air quality on a real-time basis. Users may also operate Atmobot AA via a remote control device.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project commenced in Suzhou, China, in March 2017, and the design was completed in June 2017. The ATMOBOT AA3 was announced at the Robot Conference in Beijing on August 26, 2017, and commenced production from December 2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Atmobot AA has three emission and two receiving ultrasound sensors so that its detection domain is enlarged by way of a combination of arrays formed by a staggered arrangement. It also has five sets of high precision infrared sensors that accurately surveys the indoor environment by way of luminous intensity and time of flight (TOF). These two complementary technologies help the machine move intelligently. The Laser Particle Sensor is able to monitor real-time indoor air quality so as to intelligently regulate purification airflow.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To understand user requirements as regard air purifiers, at the beginning of the design phase, the team surveyed Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hubei and Nanjing, and by way of observation, visits and other methods, analyzed and obtained the requirements of users. In the process of research and development, and design, based on user requirements, the interactive experience was optimized, and the setup and operation of the purification path simplified. The environmental sensing algorithm was also optimized. Air purification efficiency was increased by introducing more advanced turbo fans.At the trial production phase of the Atmobot AA, the research team conducted feasibility tests, and observed utilization condition and the difficulties of users, they encountered so as to continually optimize the user experience of Atmobot AA.
CHALLENGE: Ensuring both purification efficiency and that the Atmobot AA range of products would not be too bulky and heavy thus affecting its movements in a complex home environment were significant challenges.
