DESIGN NAME: Nissan Nv350
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Brochure
INSPIRATION: For professional people who hope to do a better job than yesterday, to grow their business and to fulfill their work, a commercial van is not a mere tool to move around nor to load things. It is more like a buddy who can be relied on (or be proud of) and who strives for a better performance together. This brochure is developed to make people feel associated with the idea that a van is more than just a tool, but a business partner.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: NV350 is introduced to change the scene where Toyota cars dominate the commercial vehicle market in Japan. NV350 is a genuine and innovative commercial van equipped with advanced safety technology, pursed its usability and loading efficiency, and exceeds Toyota cars with commodity power. A bland look and feel which we see in Toyota’s commercial van brochures does not exist in this new NV350 brochure. We tried to create a brochure touching people’s hearts based on our targeted customers' insights
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In Japan, automobile brochures are considered as an incentive item for targeted customers. Therefore, a brochure must convey both emotional and functional qualities to the potential buyer.
In general, there are two ways of obtaining a brochure: either by picking it up at a dealership, or by ordering it on the Internet.
In Japan, even after purchasing a car the delivery period can stretch to three months. The brochure allows the new owner to obsess over his or her purchase and fantasize about driving it, while waiting for the car to be delivered.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Nissan NV350 had a minor change in July, 2017. This brochure was introduced at the same time of release and will be used until next model change.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Although a subject of shooting was a car, we tried to be particular about angles, lens selection, lighting and reflection to create an image as if we are looking at a skilled artisan.
The background scene is reproduced with 3DCG by referring to an actual construction site, and tried to create a realistic sensation by making the street with low color saturation.
Created a tremendous impact by using the most of page space to show the vehicle.
Had an actual professional person who uses his van for work to recreate the cargo area to show how the tools he uses on a regular basis are packed there.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Size: a 250-mm square with 62 pages. Saddle stitch.
This brochure uses “FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved paper”, which is made from thinned wood.

CHALLENGE: For commercial vehicles, it is required to contain a lot of information in a brochure but it is difficult to use many paged for inspirational images as the number of pages available is limited.
Therefore, how to communicate NV350 perspective through the pages introducing functions and performance was our main focus.
Used an angle not only showing the design but also inspiring people with NV350 characteristics. Also we emphasized its dynamism by using a wide-angle lens and created a sophisticated and intelligent impression with lighting and reflection.
Had a professional person to recreate the cargo area to show how the tools he uses on a regular basis are loaded there. Helped to show NV350’s skillfulness and reliableness.
This brochure is developed with various twists professional people would like to see/know in details in order to move the targeted customers’ hearts.
