| DESIGN NAME: Aulenti PRIMARY FUNCTION: Executive office desk INSPIRATION: A executive office system which respond to an architectural vision for equipping offices. Lightness combined with dynamic perception of suspension is the theme developed by the designers of the desk system Aulenti. A basic architecture in which the original appearance of the leg that designed in a swap smoothly continues to become the beams conveying an overall aerial impression underpinned by reassuring stability, a game of tensions and strength lines with expressive efficacy that remind modern constructions. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Much more than a formal design. A sum of functional details, techniques and technology. Aulenti desk combine traditional design elements of the best solid wood furnitures of '70 with architectural design spirit similar to Calatrava's works, all fully equipped with the functionality that a contemporary user need, such as integrated wire box, moveable trays for small personal accessories and modesty panel. High quality materials for the robust structure, the top is finished with vacuum process. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It took one years to define the brief and the features the final products must include. After that it took other several months of design proposals to catch the design guidelines that will lead to the designers to complete the final appearance of the desk. The final step was necessary to extend the design to the meeting table and the file cabinet. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: From July 2016 to March 2017, Hangzhou (China). PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Particle board MDF without formaldehyde finished with natural walnut wood and metro grey water based coating for the structure and the top. The veneer is applied with vacuum technology which ensure cleaner pores and smoother textures. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 2800 x 2250 x 760 TAGS: desk, office, executive, usb, work, wood, leather, luxury RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In the last decade chairs dedicated for work have highly improved the working environment thanks to more and more human center approach and the development of new technologies. Contrarily office desk are too much based on shape or on function, what we did is to deliver technology innovation, quality details, humanised design in a more poetic way, that is, to realise interaction between technology and design, the results is Aulenti, the combination of strength and beauty, a model for modern office spaces. CHALLENGE: Combine high technology such light sensor and usb plug with contemporary shapes and thin surfaces.
