PRIMARY FUNCTION: Train Ticket
INSPIRATION: When the designer Dan Yu take a train every time, She find that passengers looking for seats, there are two entrances to choose from, most people come to one of the nearest entrance, fifty percent probability to choose their seats away from the entrance, resulting in congestion.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Seating Guide design solves this problem with the most resource saving method.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: For instance, When someone seat number is 06car,01A, he maybe think that Seat 01A No.6 car, which entrance is closer to his seat? He looking for seats, there are two entrances to choose from, most people come to one of the nearest entrance, fifty percent probability to choose their seats away from the entrance, resulting in congestion.It's a waste of time and energy.
The Seating Guide design attach a guide to the ticket, The production cost will not increase.When someone take the ticket and look at the Seating Guiding, they can know where their seats are immediately. Quickly find the specified entry, and find his seat, arrange his luggage.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2016 in Hangzhou and finished in January 2017 in Hangzhou

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: When designer Dan Yu was in Shenzhen, she had to go back to school by train every month. One time, a very congested carriage made her aware that this was a very annoying problem.Then She went to work in Hangzhou, She decided to solve this problem with another designer WenKai Li. After the discussion, They began to study the solution to the problem. First of all, two designers go to the railway station to survey. Ask whether other passengers will be troubled because of they can't find a closer entrance to their own car. the designer who asked 100 passengers randomly, and they all think it's a big problem. The results of such a survey makes designer more excited. So They started to study how to solve this problem at the least cost. After about half a year months of optimization, the Seating Guide design was created.
CHALLENGE: Field investigation, station managers do not allow designers stay for a long time to take a picture, then the designer were driven out. Some people are not friendly to our investigation.
