| DESIGN NAME: Xsr 85 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Motor Yacht INSPIRATION: The hybrid propulsion system enables you to avoid the noise, vibrations, emissions and expense of running your diesel generators at anchor. The design inspiration comes from nature. Our aim is to integrate enclosed spaces with more light and functional flexibility with green technology. Loose furniture arrangement on exterior decks gives the owner maximum comfort on board. Open spaces are the important overlook for the design strategy because most of the owners spend their time on exterior decks. The key element of the design is the architectural glass arrangement which surround the entire salon, giving great lightness and visibility from the inside-out. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The most unique aspects of Xsr 85 is using extensive glass integrated with the superstructure which gives the project the architectural touch and the hybrid propulsion which means this system enables you to avoid the noise, vibrations, emissions and expense of running your diesel generators at anchor. Main focus was owner’s freedom and flexibility on board. For achieving this, we’ve made full glass living areas and spacious exteriors with loose furniture. Also we’ve opened the saloon glass area on both sides and aft to connect exterior & interior to give the owner a unique open deck feeling. Bar and large sunbathing areas at Flybridge and Jacuzzi on foredeck maximize the outdoor pleasure. Xsr 85 is designed respectful to nature and you will feel even closer to the sea with zero compromises from style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Our target customers have a clear mind of vision about green technology whom care about environment with the exceptional freedom of yachting life style. Xsr 85 provides more open spaces, loose furniture options, hybrid propulsion system, light materials and maximum daylight with holistic design approach. Features of these yachts; low emissions, fast displacement hull design, cost efficiency, maximum comfort & silence, maximum engine power. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Xsr 85 design started in March 2017, currently Xsr 85 is under construction and planned to delivery at 2019. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The hull of Xsr 85 is grp sandwich construction and superstructure will be full carbon structure for the lightness and stiffness needed for the maximum efficienty. We’ll use infusion technique as the best production method for the composites. Hull is developed with the patented fast displacement hull form or fdhf. The development of this concept was triggered by the desire to develop a hull form that is efficient over the entire range and not only in a restricted values interval around the maximum speed. Other benefits include significantly increased comfort on-board with better sea keeping and wave reduction. Particularly when compared to hard chine vessels, the Fdhf showed improved sea keeping behaviour and manoeuvrability, as well as a reduced sensitivity to an increase in the weight of the vessel. By using parallel hybrid propulsion systems, you can make slow cruises by utilising electric propulsion with nearly zero cost! The maintenance period of electric engines is also longer than internal combustion engines, so we offer you a low maintenance period as well as cost savings! The system will allow for more space in the accommodation areas than a yacht at the same length. We will use smaller diesel engines and the electric engines are small in themselves which allows the possibility for an additional cabin or much bigger master cabin. Electric engines operate silently with no exhaust gas. Xsr 85 provides a maximum acceleration value regardless of propulsion revolution of the yacht’s range by optimizing all kinds of propulsion scenarios. Xsr 85 offers an efficient and powerful cruise with the highest manoeuvrability. We wanted to achieve both green technology and stylish design at the same time without giving zero compromise from customers’ luxury. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was making a design with architectural glass use without losing the exterior styling proportions; we want to give the design sophisticated look but still feel simple in overall. Hybrid propulsion systems features are hard to archive the aimed target at this yacht range and systems suppliers and industry potentials are in progress in specific points, this also affects design process.
