| DESIGN NAME: Bug PRIMARY FUNCTION: Seat And Stool INSPIRATION: The starting point of this project is the insect forms. The design is based on the insects’ leg structure and body forms. Their colors and sizes might change. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: For the combination of furniture design, it is inspired from insects’ body forms. They are in round shape and designed according to ergonomically calculations. The unique feature of this design is being in a insect form and being producible in many different colors. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Its significant character for operation can be stated as being colorful and modern. It can be applied to common areas in many different combinations. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project is designed in March 2017 and started to protype trials. The process is still ongoing. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The materials which were used in production are: lacquered material upon the MDF Lam material has been used for main body and legs of the seating elements. In the upper section of seating elements, fabric over the sponge has been used. As the main body material for stools, colored lacquered material over the MDF Lam has been used. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: -armchair width: 900 mm -armchair seating section height: 420 mm -armchair backrest section height: 850 mm -stool width: variable (40/55/65) -stool height: 420 mm TAGS: bug , furnitur , designe , animal product , Round , circular , stool design , interior design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: For the design process, the insect types’ typologies have been examined and the seating place and also the leg parts of the furniture have been changed in order to resemble it to the insect form. The leg parts of the stools and armchairs have been adjusted into the insect form. For the design, different sketches studied and golden proportion system was applied. CHALLENGE: During the design process, due to the leg forms of armchairs and stools, the balance problem was aroused. This problem is solved by dissolving pressure to the floor and the places which were not used as legs were cut roundly. This solution actually led us to reach the design form of insect more easily.
