| DESIGN NAME: Loong Palace 340 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Show Villa INSPIRATION: Three out of the four greatest inventions such as gunpowder, movable type printing and compass, were invented in Song. And the Song porcelain is also the renowned treasure. The material and spiritual civilization in the nation reached an unprecedented peak in those days. The design of this project, with the Chinese Renaissance in the Song Dynasty as the inspiration, endeavored to capture the glamour of that time, high lighting the culture of the literati in the Song Dynasty to rejuvenate one of the most brilliant parts of classical Chinese civilization. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is situated in the Shangzhuang area, North Haidian District, Beijing, home to renowned universities and high tech industrial bases and representation of the dynamism and vitality of China emerging technological and cultural strengths. The surrounding nature and its abundant water resource have also made it well known for its rice production exclusively provided for the royal in the ancient time. Its geopolitical and resource advantages ensure the sophisticated villas to oustand the newly constructed luxurious property. This is the most exquisite residential development by Shimao Group. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The more we studied the Song Dynasty, the more we were fascinated by its charm. To better our design, we visited art teams and artists specialized in Song furniture, carpets and works of art. Their insights helped deepen our understanding and our fine-tuning of design. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The aesthetics of the Song Dynasty is applied in the design such as using a silk canvas substrate on which the implicit beauty of Song poems is transformed into the atmosphere in the space, forming a new form of Chinese style, while modern elements in detailing add the spirit of the new era on top of the classical charm. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total area: 1080 square meters Height: highest 6.72m, lowest 2.7m Living room: 55.66 square meters Dining room: 32.66 square meters Tearoom: 43.71 square meters Master bedroom 27.73 square meters Media lounge 50.6 square meters TAGS: Luxury, Design, Interior Design, Classical, Formal, Clubhouse, Sales Presentation RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In order to get familiar with the history of Song Dynasty, the whole design team studied hundreds of documentaries and tons books to gather every bit of details about the life in Song. Its development of material and spiritual civilization reached an unprecedented height. Scholars were highly respected by the society, and the cultural of literati, Neo Confucianism, poetry, calligraphy and painting were all at the level beyond reach for other dynasties. Undoubtedly, the Song Dynasty is the period of Chinese Renaissance. CHALLENGE: The circulation route design manifests the subtle interactions within the space. For instance, folding the right side of the accordion door reveals the underground IMAX theatre, while the tearoom in the study is behind the left side. Such design renders the connection between the dining room and the two other areas into an interesting dialogue.
