PRIMARY FUNCTION: Electric bicycle
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the MCCorse electric bike came from the original MCCorse car. On of the most wellknow icons in the car industry. The aim was to build one of the abolut lightest electric bikes in the world. We have a holistic design profile on the bike. The aim was to hide the electric drive train as much as possible. This is done by having the electric motor and the battery hidden in the downtube of the bike. The colours are inspired by the original Maserati MCCorse car.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Maserati MCCorse electric bike is a unique electric bike. Created from the race DNA of the original Maserati MCCorse car. New composit materials has been used. The method of production is Autoclave carbon in order to make the bike strong and light. The perception of this electric bike is pure race. With this the Maserati brand has created a complete new category in the bicycle industry. The bike was shown the first time at the Frankfurt autoshow with a very good reception from clients. The Maserati MCCorse electric bike has won several design awards throughout Europe
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: MCCorse is born from the partnership between Maserati and Diavelo, leader in the bike market worldwide.
Designed by Diavelo, member of Accel Group, with the inputs of Maseratis designers from Centro Stile, and manufactured in Europe, the e-bike collection consists of two product lines, the MC Series and the V8 Series, featuring products for different uses and customers.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: 8 month. Denmark and Italy. We started the project in Denmark with the initial sketches. From the original sketches we worked out the 3D files in Italy. The final prototype approval was done in Croatia by the Diavelo design studio.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Full Carbon Autoclave frame. The battery is completely hidden in the frame to optimise the race look. The motor is a very strong mid motor also hidden in the super-light carbon autoclave frame. The wheels are race carbon wheels from Zipp. High profile carbon wheels to create the best aerodynamics. The stem is integrated into the frame also in order to create better aerodynamics.

The weight is 12,5 Kilo.
The frame is made from Autoclave Carbon. This makes the bike one of the strongest and lightest in the world.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We have done research in aerodynamics, weight ratio to stiffness of the frames. This is a totally new method in the electric bicycles industry where those parameters mentioned has not been explored before now with our new Maserati MCCOrse product.
CHALLENGE: The most critical challenge was to get the weight down to a record breaking level. The electric bicycle has a race bike dna and must therefor be light. But having the added weight of a battery and a motor was the most difficult challenge. The way we have solved the challenges is by using untraditional materials for an electric bike such as carbon and kevlar instead of metal and alloy.
