PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Light Studio

INSPIRATION:
Inspired by the idea Less is more the decor style preferred is minimalism. It is charming in almost any space. With less clutter to wade through, the innate beauty of each piece of furniture or art in any space really stands out.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
White fills the space. The very whiteness of the walls capped with white ceiling adds to the sense of spaciousness. The white walls and the white ceiling are differentiated by cove lights LED strips. The merchandise stands out from the neutral colors of the setting. The almost white walls are contrasted with rich wood furniture. The presence of the relatively soft natural materials keeps the store both comfortable and inviting keeping the emphasis on the product.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Throughout the lighting is clear and bright with ambient lighting coming from recessed light fixtures and hidden cove lighting.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project was completed in 45 days in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The palette of colors and materials is muted, natural and light. The minimalist space embraces a stark white palette to keep the design from overwhelming the products. Furnishings are simple and streamlined, nothing is excessive or flamboyant. Organic, free flowing shapes are used for furniture designing. All the furniture is made out of natural wood with smooth finished top and rough edges. Grey upholstery is used for the one of a kind furniture that includes chairs, stools. Glass doors are used so as to make the showroom look more spacious. The flooring gives a totally homogenous feel.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Minimalism is ultimately defined by a sense of functionality and ultra clean lines. The main entrance leads to the reception and waiting area with the pantry on the immediate right. On the right is a studio and conference room with a minimalist circular table, an outdoor lights area and display area raised by 6 inch from finished floor level. Behind the reception is the accounts area adjacent to the main cabin. The entire space feels consistent and harmonious offering a relaxing and stimulating space for the customers.

CHALLENGE:
The big idea was to enhance the shopping experience for the customers and to accomplish this the designer created a sense of exploration. The major challenge was to avoid glare from light fixtures and many reflective materials used to create the showrooms clean minimalist interior. The approach was to create a genteel, refined retail space that felt minimal.

Hobbies and Interests turned into career; He completed his Diploma in Interior Designing from University of Bombay in the year 1989. While studying Interiors, Sanjay used to work in his own family business of a garment shop, where he came across many people with different tastes and choices. This is what helped him in understanding new people, clients and their requirements and fulfilling their needs through his design. Established his firm in 1990; commitment to high quality has positioned Sanjay Newaskar among the leading Interior Designers’. In addition to his prestigious career of 25 years as a Designer, Sanjay Newaskar has been a Guest Lecturer and jury member in renowned Interior Designing Institutions and Colleges and in many Award functions, he has also been a Committee Member of IIID(Indian Institute of Interior Designers),Pune for around 8years. He loves travelling Worldwide for exploring new things. Mansi Newaskar Born in 1977 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India; Mansi had hobbies like Sports, Dancing, Cooking, Designing garments, and Painting frames. She completed her graduation from SNDT College, Pune in the year 1998. She specialised her degree in Family Resource Management and then she continued with extensive study in Interiors. After completing her graduation, Mansi began her career as an Assistant Interior Designer with Mr. Sanjay Newaskar. Having a good rapport and similar interests of Interior Design; Sanjay and Mansi got married in the year 1999. Her expertise and talent are apparent in her myriad designs that match the needs of each client. She has worked upon and participated in a number of Design presentations. She is good at conceptualising of new projects. Having created a wide spectrum of innovative designs over the coming years, she continues to efficiently complete the journey from concept to creation. Her commitment to bringing quality, creativity and style to her projects has helped to make her firm successful and sought after by clients throughout India.
