DESIGN NAME: Snow Breweries - Ying Xiong Pu
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Beer
INSPIRATION: The name of yingxiongpu is patriotic to Chinese. Legend of hero is always popular among people. Even hero in video games is welcome by gamers. It is not hard to tell that everyone has a dream of being hero, being king in his/her own kingdom. Yingxionpu is a design through which we want to change the negative image of Chinese culture of actor and actress, which is the belief that life is like a play, into a positive one. Thus, yingxiongpu is created to be the spiritual symbol of heroic dream.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design is based on traditional Peking Opera of China with a separation in characters by gender. We shape a hero named “Bawang” and a heroine called “Daomadan”, who play jointly in our heroic packaging opera so as to convey a sense of equality between the sexes. We use the elements of ingredients of beer, hops and wheat when illustrating the exquisite headwear with the attempt to express the inextricable connection between drinking culture and heroic spirit as a historical fact and also a reality in modern society.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We tried to spread the traditional culture with leisure article, which is exactly the package of alcohol beverage. And we respect the concept of equality between sexes by designing two versions of "hero", which convey a message that women are also important target customers in alcoholic market.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started from July 2017 and finished in September 2017.
The design is done in Shenzhen, proofing in Shanghai, production in Beijing.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Packaging Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We adopt spot-color printing on the aluminum bottle. The upper part of it is covered by aluminum film.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Capacity of the aluminum bottle is 355ml, the height is 184mm, and the diameter is 184mm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This design is a upgrade case. The former package designed by the client didn't work well as its sales volume was disappointing according to the client. And after an in-depth study on the project, we found out that the reason that the former package failed is that it didn't differentiate the product from the other brands, who use the element of Peking Opera in their packages. So we decided to make some difference.
CHALLENGE: The graphic pattern is full of lines and heavy in colors so the printing technique at present can not meet our needs. If we insist to print it out perfectly, it will be time-consuming. So we will compromise at this point as it won't be possible to lose time when it comes to mass production.
