DESIGN NAME: Beanopini
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Food
INSPIRATION: A bright, vibrant and energetic colour palette sings out the four varieties. We selected illustrations over photography to depict the flavours as the illustrations carry with them connotations of craft and traditionalism which are very bound up in this product. The organic shape of the bean was used as a leading graphic device to give the packaging design a bold simplicity with plenty of shelf shout, critical in this very over-crowded and often confusing category.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In branding and packaging this start-up, we saw an opportunity to educate and captivate consumers about this unbelievably good for you bean by punching out its advantageous nutritional benefits while communicating the simple honesty of this moreish snack. This meant creating a very clear information hierarchy coupled with engaging language to articulate the brand’s values and personality.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The outer pouches are resealable with a built in zip lock feature.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was started in July 2016 and completed in March 2017.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Packaging Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The outer zip lock stand up pouches are gravure printed. We used a white pigmented polyethylene with CMYK and two spot colours per pack and a matt film finish. The inner packs are printed on a white pigmented polyethylene with two spot colours per pack and vacuum sealed.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The outer packs are 170mm wide by 210mm high.
The 100g inner packs are 145mm wide by 160mm high.
The 38g inner packs are 105mm wide by 130mm high.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As we are seeing a real trend in transparency of content we decided to use this to express very boldly the health benefits of this product. We wanted to make the nutritional benefits punch out, to be clear and to be honest, this is a what you see, what you get product.
CHALLENGE: The technical parameters of gravure printing led to some challenges maintaining the consistency of the image which was common across all packs while honouring the colours and therefore not compromising the colours of the illustrations which were also part of the CMYK set.

I'm absolutely in awe of this design! The use of vibrant colors, geometric shapes and illustrative figures combine to create an eye-catching package. The overall aesthetic is both modern and playful, and I'm sure it will stand out on the shelf. It's clear that a lot of thought and effort has gone into creating this design, and it's certainly worthy of recognition. Congratulations to Angela Spindler on their success with the Beanopini Packaging Design!

This work is a great example of how to effectively communicate a product's unique nutritional benefits and brand values through packaging design. By using a vibrant colour palette and traditional illustrations, the design is able to catch the eye of the consumer while conveying the product's message. Moreover, the technical parameters of gravure printing used to realize the work further demonstrate the designer's expertise in the field.

I absolutely love the creative packaging design of "Beanopini" by Angela Spindler! It's clear to see why it won the A' Design Award. The vibrant colors and illustrations paired with the organic shape of the bean make for a bold, eye-catching design. It stands out in a very crowded and often confusing category. I also love the transparency of content that Angela Spindler used to highlight the product's health benefits. It effectively communicates the brand's values and personality with engaging language. This is truly an example of great design!
