DESIGN NAME: Remember A Memory Recording System
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Record and share memories
INSPIRATION: I know nothing about my grandfather, because he died before I was born. Based on this personal experience, I’m focusing on how the new technology can help us look back on the past. Moreover, I hope the future generation will also be able to understand and remember the past.
Also, I want to point out that the reason why the band of the device has this kind of shape is that I got inspiration from the hippocampus, which is the part that controls people’s memory system in the brain.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The memory system allows users to store, share and retrieve memories through the use of wearable device and online digital platform. The system offers different possibilities of storing and sharing memories. The user could choose to record sounds, heart rate, body temperature or any combination of these experiences by the wearable device. On the digital platform, users could upload all the stuff along a timeline, also have opportunities to feel the recalled experience of their loved ones
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The system is clean and straightforward. Users only need to create account and connect to the device, and then the device will be able to record user’s exact feelings at the moment and upload to the re:member cloud system to store and analyze them.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The device measures Electrodermal activity, which is a “measure of neutrally mediated effects on sweat gland permeability, observed as changes in the resistance of the skin to a small electrical current.” The data from the changing of skin conductance is activated by the deep brain, which is related to emotional patterns, such as fear, anxiety, and positive excitement.
