| DESIGN NAME: Eva PRIMARY FUNCTION: Basin furniture INSPIRATION: The inspiration came from the minimal design and for using it as a quiet but interesting feature into the space. It emerged from the research of architectural forms and simple geometric volume. Basin could be potentially an important element which defines different spaces around and a center point into the space. The option to choose the color of the design implies different grades of mimesis onto the space in which is placed. The simplicity of design responds to the idea of bringing the less information able to keep the brain of the user as relax as possible, as well as create a quiet feature for the bathroom. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is characterized by its minimalistic and quiet design of a basin to create a feature for a relaxing spaces at home. Both the texture and shape respond to these aims. There are several variations including stand alone, sit-on bench and wall mounted, as well as single or double sink. It is very easy to use, clean and durable too. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This basin furniture is designed basically for residential projects. But in contract and hospitality projects too. It is very easy to use, clean and durable too. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2016 in London in finished is October 2016 in London. It is part of the furnishing of GC House in London, designed by inaki leite for YourArchitectLondon. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Based on Alape basin, the design used matte white coated aluminium and noble wood, as well as Dornbracht tap. The process started with quiet a few sketches to define the final shape and all joins. The result was agreed between the designer and craftsman specialized in metal and wood carpentry. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total dimension - length 1180mm, width 500mm, height 430mm option 1. single sink / wall mounted or sit-on bench option 2. double sink / wall mounted or sit-on bench option 3. single / stand alone option 4. double / stand alone TAGS: eva design, basin furniture, inaki leite, British furniture design, made in London, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design was developed taking into account the Alape basin and Dornbracht tap. Using these two elements we tried to achieve a minimal design accordingly. A combination of the specifications of the basin and tap, materials, easy production as well as the drawer hardware, makes this design being a very commercial product. CHALLENGE: The compatibility of the materials and the joins between them. Also the hardware system to use in the drawer for being as the expected high quality design.
