| DESIGN NAME: Recliner PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hanging chair INSPIRATION: The chair is inspired by nature with its elegantly curved lines, organic curves and a cocoon like feel that will gently embrace your body. The pattern detailing also nature inspired is reminiscent of the veins in leaves, tree branches intersecting, the patterns in dragonfly wings, cracked soil and natural textures. Form and function is working together - it is extremely comfortable with gentle movement giving a floating relaxing experience of panoramic views of the surroundings. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The RECLINER (single) hanging swing chair is sculptural and dynamic. Fluid and organic, it lends itself for use as a functional art piece. The pattern detail is inspired by nature and reminiscent of the veins in leaves, tree branches intersecting, the patterns in dragonfly wings, cracked soil and natural textures. The chair has been designed to be extremely comfortable and has a cozy cocoon like feel, with a delicate balance point. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Each chair is made by hand, the core frame is standard to ensure consistency in shape and comfort. Due to the variance of craftsmanship going into each chair, every piece has individualism and uniqueness in the pattern detailing. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Size: 195 cm length x 72 cm width x 128 cm deep (76,7” length x 28,3” width x 50,4” deep) Weight: 15 kg / 33 pounds These chairs are made from mild steel or aliminium and are very durable. They are E coated - Environ Protected (like they do on the chassis of a car) for rust resistance. They are also powder coated One of the finishes that can be chosen is Ferrograin Black, that has a sensual feel that is soft and suede like to the touch. TAGS: Hanging Chair, Swing Chair, Hanging Swing chair, Recliner, Single Recliner, Lounger, Nest Chair RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: We design and make the chairs by hand - no CAD or computer assistance is used. We make several models - real full size proto types, sit in them, test them, make changes until the form and function is working together. Finding the hanging point was quite a challenge.
