DESIGN NAME: Pipe Line
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Faucet Basin Mixer
INSPIRATION: The idea to recreate from something of another era seduces us, something whose potential has been kept unchanged - the genesis of things.
We like objects that look like objects, shaped to the function for which they are intended. This principle presents an idea of norm, synthesis, timeless value, which expresses the attitude of improving what already exists.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Segment; curve; segment...
Continuous linear composition of an infinite nature.
The extrusion of a circumference with a diameter of 30mm: generator element of all moments of each piece presented; a flexible body that gives character to the shape, assuming distinct sections in its construction.
The series is inspired and mimics the matrix of the outer pipes. It resumes the idea of the tubing visible outside the wall, with connections between pieces, defining it in a cohesive and unique gesture.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The great value of the solution is its adaptability, ie the concept provides an identity that mimics the pipes outside the existing walls, as well as a set of accessories created using the same principle.
Segment; curve; Segment ... and the set becomes infinite.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The pair of architects Hugo Proenca Sales and Pedro Conceição was the winner of a prize launched in partnership between Ctesi and the Portuguese Architects Order with aim to create new sets of mixer taps for the brand based in Obidos, Portugal.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This brass basin mixer is produced through a machinery process and subsequent polishing. The glossy finish is attained through a chroming process. Other finitures are available, like black and white mate or solid surface on the handle.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Siza Veira said about his objects: "In my work, there is little worry about inventing anything new. It is more related to the history of things. For example, if I design a chair, I like a chair that looks like a chair "...
CHALLENGE: A path that made sense.
Given the huge universe of bath mixers, the initial idea was to find a concept somehow innovative and not just another inconsequential design.
A strategy that would bring about a truly unique set, given the increasingly urgent needs of rehabilitation, was the starting point.
The final result is the combination of two tubular sections, simple and rational design, supposedly easily reproducible on the assembly line.
