| DESIGN NAME: Water Splash PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: The various shapes of water have always been one of the most admirable aspects of nature. For this specific concept, everything was started from the spark of "freezing the time" in my mind, it lets us seeing whatever that could not be seen by naked eye.The moment of water splash is one of these cases which creates the unique shapes and could be a clue to reach to great organic forms for jewelry. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This ring was designed by Biomorphism method and its shape indebted to the beauty of nature. People wear jewelry for making themselves more appealing, however, regarding the great shape of the human body, creating something to improve this greatness is actually difficult. Hence, returning to the natural forms and getting inspired by nature could be the way which can help us to reach to the shapes that are able to be as beautiful as the shape of human body. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There is not any sharp edge in the shape of this ring, all the edges are designed curved and smooth to the aim of having well touch feeling and not to scratch skin and clothes. The target groups of this jewelry piece are women who can use it in both casual and formal styles. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2015 in Tehran and finished in January 2016 at the same place. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Titanium is the proper material for this ring and for producing, its model should be made by high tolerance 3D-printer then it could be produced by investment casting. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Diameter: 16.5mm height(from bottom to the highest point of ring crown): 21.5mm TAGS: Ring, Biomorphism, Water transformation, Water splash, Organic shape, Jewelry, Biomorphic jewelry RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In the research part of this project, which was early stages of that, for achieving information, it needed to do more experiment than using theoretical methods. Lots of images were taken from the moment of water splashing to understand the performance of water at the time of splashing, each time had its own special effects and results. Finally, some of these images were selected to be the reference of the work, the manner of water during its transformation was detected, and the shape of the ring was designed based on that. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part was transforming the abstract shape of water splash to the organic ring with the same emotion, for resolving this, I have tried to find the proper shape of water, then I have developed the shape of ring step by step to have the most emotional similarity with the reference which was the shape of water splash.
