| DESIGN NAME: Avivo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cafe Seating INSPIRATION: The driving force behind Avivo was the desire to create a line of cafe seating that blends a modern aesthetic with versatile material and configuration options. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Blending a modern aesthetic with versatile design options, the Avivo line includes coordinating chairs, tables in various sizes, bar stools, and bar-height tables for indoors or out. All Avivo products feature beautifully detailed aluminum frames with a durable powdercoat finish. Bar stool and chair seats and backs are available with or without perforations in one of several patterns. Tables and bar-height tables have numerous top options, including glass, aluminum or FSC hardwood. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Avivo family brings a distinctly F+S point of view to cafe seating. Blending a modern aesthetic with versatile design options, the line includes coordinating chairs, tables in various sizes, bar-height tables, and bar stools. Avivo makes it easy to bring people together in gathering spaces of all kinds. Consider the family for malls and retail centers, or corporate and university campuses. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Avivo Chairs and Bar Stools are formed of aluminum seats and backs with a durable powdercoat finish. Avivo Table frames are constructed of extruded and cast aluminum. Table top inset options include aluminum, glass, and FSC Recycled reclaimed Azobe (Red Ironwood) hardwood slats repurposed from the South Street Seaport in New York. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Avivo Bar Stool: 513 mm x 615 mm x 1011 mm; Avivo Bar-height Table: 762 mm x 2286 mm x 1074 mm; Avivo Chair: 483 mm x 584 mm x 620 mm; Avivo Table: 1016 mm x 1016 mm x 749 mm, 1016 mm x 2286 mm x 749 mm, 1016 mm x 4572 mm x 749 mm TAGS: Bar Stool, Bar-height Table, Table, Chair, Site Furniture, Street Furniture, Cafe Seating RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Bringing the Avivo line to the marketplace involved a number of design research activities including human factors research, functionality testing through prototyping, physical testing, and solid modeling with finite element analysis to ensure quality, performance, and safety. CHALLENGE: Challenges included the production possibilities of creating a cast aluminum chair with the added modularity of the seamless integration of a seat and back surface that allowed for pattern customization and substitution.
