DESIGN NAME: Ready Folded
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wearable Art
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for my debutant collection comes from the art of paper folding, more commonly known as Origami. Modern Paper folding can be defined as 'the play of making various shape by folding a square paper, with no glue and no cut'.
The Sonobe folding is the type of modular origami, that can be achieved by folding two or more sheets, thus creating a more complex structure, which would not possible for one page folding.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: I believe that women were born to be beautiful and dazzling, and that the clothes we put on and the attitude with which wear them, reflect our precious sensuality and feminity within us.
My collection is a peculiar, yet fancy formal wear which uses traditional elements. The results were achieved by using the finest materials, decorations and meticulous haut couture. The tailoring lines and colour schemes helped me achieve a sense of harmony, which is inspired by the complexity of our feminity.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The collection includes 4 items.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2016 and finished in June 2016 in Debrecen.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The interface design is based on the art of traditional Japanese origami style, but this time the raw material is the jersey and the taffeta. Each piece is folded into a square sheet of paper separately, while the finished module is only visible on one side. Sonobe parts are based on a parallelogram which enclose an angle of 45 and another one of 135 degrees. Three interconnected Sonobe elements create an open-bottomed triangular pyramid with rectangular point. The Sonobe technique chosen by me can also be otherwise applied by using different colors and decorations.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: All dresses are size 36. Bust 87 cm, waist 69cm and hip size is 98 cm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The intention of this design project was to create a garment using the art of origami by applying paper folding on textiles. The materials I used to create these pieces are taffeta and jersey. The techniques I used to create the piece include: Sonobe folding, decorative stitching, sewing and ironing. My overall intention was to create a wearable art piece with three dimensional effect. After the completion of my project I found that each dress can be a piece on its own due to their three dimensional , while being aesthetically pleasing because they perfectly mold to the human body when they are worn.
CHALLENGE: In my collection, I wanted to attain a three dimensional effect, by applying the Sonobe technique and decorative stitching. I achieved a perceptible way to show just how exciting this use of textiles can be, by creating over 200 squares from folding taffeta..
