DESIGN NAME: S Assistant
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Underwater Camera
INSPIRATION: The way to improve swimmer’s moves rely on their data everyday but athlete’s move cannot easily being distinguished between the standard underwater so that it is a little bit difficult for coach to guidance athlete. To offer a better solution, we find our point in redesign of underwater camera, which can make guidance-time more easier by recording data of swimmers during training time. Those data can help the coach to clear their guidance more specific.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: S-Assistant can recording data of swimmers during training time. It has two different cameras, one of them is underwater the other is on water. The camera can automatic catch every move athlete made by application inside. The coach can download an application to get those data recording by camera. It will help the coach in guidance different athletic by data-oriented information.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: S-Assistant can wedge on swim-lane. You can turn the cameras on through the WIFI. After the data recorded by camera into application, you can get those data on your mobile devices as long as you have the client.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2016 in LAFA Communal Facility Design Studio and finished in February 2017 in National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Industrial Design in LAFA.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: S-Assistant has got two waterproof cameras outside. And inside S-Assistant, here are unique application which can catch every move athlete made and uploading the data through WIFI.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A miss is as good as a mile. Numberous swim athletes cannot get a perfect score because of their moves have a distance between the standard. It is not easy to tell the difference without the professional data analysis. The camera of our design can catch every move athlete made, including each move’s high, the angle between the body and the frequency of each move. The data can be sent into your mobile devices through by WIFI, which can help the coach in clearing their guidance more specific.
CHALLENGE: The challenge of our design is that we cannot find a suitable material in tolerance of water. After a number of tests in the selection of materials, we finally find the proper material which achieves the desired effect.
