| DESIGN NAME: Ebony Two PRIMARY FUNCTION: Loop Bag INSPIRATION: Ebony is a modern interpretation of the 60ies, inspired by architecture, particularly the organic line used in it. Since nature and beauty are a constant source of inspiration, Ebony is the child of the two opposite: regular and compact in shape like a well designed building, but soft on the edges and colourful like a mature cherry. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Gretchen's Ebony Loop Bag is a chic accessory that will be loved forever. It can be carried by the top loop for a sophisticated ladylike appeal or worn thanks to the detachable and adjustable shoulder strap for a hands-free day. Its compact but not stift structure makes sure to give it a good-looking shape without sacrificing inside space to mere aesthetic. Ebony is beautiful on the outside as well as on the inside, a great companion ready to adapt to the others without losing its personality. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This bag is versatile: it can be worn as a backpack, as a shoulder bag or even carried by hand. It magnetic lock makes it easy and the zipper prevents it from being too easy to open. Its siye it´just rght: not as big as a small suitcase, but big enough to accomodate a book or a mobile phone (even a really big one). In fact there is a pocket that serves that exact purpose. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bag is crafted in ultra-soft waxed Italian calf leather and handmade through a months-long process. While we produce following traditional methods in Italy, our design studio is located in Berlin, Germany. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Inside zipper, mobile phone and open pocket. Magnetic lock. Height: 24 cm (9,5") Width: 27cm (10,5") Depth: 8,5 cm (3") Handle Range: 8,5 cm (3") Detachable & adjustable Shoulder Straps: 90 cm (33,5") - 135 cm (53") TAGS: loopbag, pepper red, timeless, 60s, calf leather, bag, stylish and practical RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The artisan process Cut to measure profile structures are applied onto a support material. This base structure is then covered with leather. With a blunt knife, the so called folding leg, each profile structure is retraced by hand, one by one. CHALLENGE: We wanted to create a bag that would use some of the elements of the 60s to create a timeless bag. Anne-Christin, the creative mind behind Gretchen, grew up surrounded by leather goods of the family manufactory. A vita so closely interwoven with fine leather goods and her intuitive understanding of design reflect in her thoughtfully unconventional creations. Inspired by sculptural aesthetics and the architecture of nature, her handwriting is marked by feminine straightness and modern angles in distinguished shapes. Eclectic combinations of shiny glazed and waxed calf leathers and elaborate profile elements are signature trademarks of the Gretchen look making each Gretchen recognizable and unique and a true masterpiece of traditional craftsmanship Challenging the conventional Anne-Christin takes on a different angle and gives way to new concepts when designing her bags, purses, gloves and other fine leather goods.
