DESIGN NAME: Stick N Seek
PRIMARY FUNCTION: AR application
INSPIRATION: When it comes to try a new thing, many people hesitate to try it out since they can’t exactly decide what to buy, eat or wear. Stick n seek is inspired from the tendency to select the things that are among one's friends’ interests when they face new stuff in restaurants or stores.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a new feature that can be used in shopping and restaurant apps. This app with the help of RFID tags, which are located under food dishes or on the clothes, allows your loved ones to suggest you food or clothes to try. You can find the suggested items via your smartphone once you enter the place. Also, you can surprise your loved ones by buying them gifts so they can come to the mentioned shop and find the secret gift there.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Stick n seek enables user to connect with many items like his meals. It's a bridge between virtual and physical world and tends user to have fun with his food. For example instead of opening a menu in the app interface and selecting a specific food to comment about it, he can easily tap on his meal via mobile phone screen and like it, comment about it or even add it to his favorite foods. This causes greater interaction as well as less effort to make a suggestion about items and foods.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The first stage of this project started in December 2016 in Tehran and finished in February 2017 in Tehran and aims to start a pilot test in Mashhad by the end of june.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Stick n seek benefits from RFID tags to recognize food or any goods. This tags are located under food plates or on the clothes. Mobile app sends signals and then analyzes the returned signal to recognize the mentioned item or food. The app uses augmented reality technology to show any information related to the goods or foods to the user.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: RFID tags have a range of 1-2 M for foods in restaurant and 10-15 M for items in stores. A tag's information may vary for different users based on their friends visual activities and interests.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our research in this project was mainly on human interactions with each other and how this interaction approach can be used in a mobile app. We choose two behaviors of people. Their tendency to choose things that are among their friends interests and surprising someone by providing him a spontaneous gift and make him to follow for that like hide & seek play since many people enjoy discovery.
CHALLENGE: The most challenging part of this project was to define a method that mobile phone can recognizes each item or food and then transmits and receives data via scanning that item. It was actually impossible for the app to identify an object or specially food just by its shape, as a result RFID tags were chosen to gather data and transmit them.
