| DESIGN NAME: Indeean Home PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: Design a home that exudes peace which the residents yearn for after a busy day of city life. More so if , in case of resort like home nestled in proximity to an ecological reserve. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Very urbane in nature for its aesthetic approach but functionally a design that encourages purpose to this 180 sq mtr space which is smartly divided into living space, dining space, kitchen, balconies, 3 beds, 5 baths and a family den that is carved out from the 4th bed. The family den doubles up as the dresser and provides a separate bath for the man of the house, giving the lady her own separate bath and dresser. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The flow of spaces were planned to allow each space and person to whom the space belonged to, function without interfering with another user. It also included the needs of a senior citizen suffering from Parkinson's. While each member got his personal space few of the spaces doubled up to encourage allow family interactions besides of course the living room. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project execution started in January 2016 and was handed over in September 2016 at Thane district of Mumbai, India. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The prepossessing Satvario, not as pared-down, supplemented the deep grey marazi to begin with. The companion log like American oak,augmented the greens brought into the house from the ecological reserve nearby. The splash of a family of colours, in form of art, accessory and soft furnishing suggested presence of life, which was graced by the wonderful textures offered by the stencils, heavily brushed wood, tiny hand cut mosaic, machine carved MDF etc that hugged the vertical surfaces of the home. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 180 square meter of space with 2.7 meter ceiling height beautifully wrapped with materials laid by skilled labour which where all grazed by natural and technical lighting to bring the best out of the space. TAGS: A global attire to Indeean Lifestyle by Amee Vora RESEARCH ABSTRACT: An intent to explicate the clever relationship, hidden within, the careful choices and placement of pared-down illustrative elements, so as to achieve synergy, where design interacts with elements without vastly overpowering the other thus unfolding an inclusive design. CHALLENGE: Execution of the details as envisaged, at site, mostly by hand within a budget.
