PRIMARY FUNCTION: Playground Equipment
INSPIRATION: We were researching and thinking about educational and interactive outdoor playground equipment, we came up with keywords such as: saving, recycling, environment, awareness. Along with the words we decided on 'waste recycling' and 'renewable energy' subjects. As the result, to make the children discover about environment issues and increase the sensibility, products are inspired by the recycling bin and wind turbines.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Wind Turbine game basicly demonstrates how the wind power transforms into the electricity we use everyday in our lives and simulates the way the wind turbines work and how energy can be renewable. Recycling Bin game helps kids to learn to categorize the recyclable wastes and showing that they're not only garbage and all can be valued again. In that sense the project arouses environment friendly consciousness, sensibility to environment, awareness about renewable energy and recycling concept.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Wind Turbine: To start the game spin the propeller and wait for the countdown.The player who lights up all the buildings by spinning the wind turbine, earns a point. Whoever reaches ten points first, wins the game. Spinning the turbine will work as long as you hear the wind sound. At high speed wind upper window lights up and you progress faster. At low speed wind lower window lights up and you progress slower. By the lights on the top of the buildings you can see your opponent's progress. So that means, you better make a good usage of your energy and don't fall back from your opponent.
Recycle Bin: Aim is to choose the right category by touching the buttons according to the product seen on the screen. There are four recyclable waste categories. These are: plastic, metal, glass and paper. Categories have their own buttons for each player. Whoever touches the right button earlier, earns a point .If you touch the wrong button you loose a point and if you touch the button after your opponent. To start the game touch a random button and wait for the countdown. After that, products will be shown on the screen one by one. Whoever reaches ten points first, wins the game.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2016 and finished in February 2017 in Ankara

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In today's digital world there are lots of options to have fun at home for the children. Computers, video games, smart phones and internet make kids stay home all day which causes asociality, inactivity, apathy, insensivity and even obesity. New generations are all captivated by digital toys. To make the children go out more ,toys on the parks have to be more interesting. So we brought out an urban interactive game concept which is challenging, attractive, fun but also educating.
CHALLENGE: This project combines outdoor playing with interactivity in educational, challenging and fun way. Most challenging part was adapting a good playing scenario to the games without loosing the message or being boring.
